ASHFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Local fire departments will be able to upgrade their equipment thanks to a new round of Firefighter Safety Equipment Grants from the state’s Executive Office of Public Safety and the Department of Fire Services.

Ashfield has received $10,500 for the purchase of structural firefighting gear, an accountability tracking board, and an Electric Vehicle Emergency Plug.

Hatfield will be using their award to purchase a 4-gas meter for E-2, full set of structural firefighting gear, firefighter helmets, protective hood and additional individual facepieces that are used with our self contained breathing apparatus.

The Hatfield Fire Department noted that some equipment may change according to availability as the funds must be spent within the fiscal year.
