CONWAY, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — With an annual bill of over $9,000 for streetlights alone, Conway is researching a switch to LED lights as well as eliminating unnecessary lights with the help of a Green Communities state grant.
The proposed lights will comply with best practices for safety and visibility as well as energy efficiency. Quality is ensured when lights are filtered downward, configured to cut glare, dimmable, and warmer in color. LED bulbs save on both cost and energy, and last longer.
The lights being considered for elimination or special shielding are marked with a yellow ribbon.
The Conway Selectboard and Sustainability Committee will be holding a public information session on the results of the streetlight inventory and field audit on February 19th in the Conway Town Hall and via Zoom, the link may be found on the town’s website.
