WENDELL, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — UPDATE 2/13/25: Crews are working hard to clean up after 14 train cars were derailed off the tracks on Farley Road in Wendell. Crane lifted six cars back onto the track Wednesday and Farley Road was reopened to residents and emergency vehicles, but will remain closed to the public. Genesee & Wyoming Railroad Services, Inc. said the train carried a mix of dry commodities, no hazardous materials. 

UPDATE 2/12/25 – Leverett Police say Farley Road may be closed for several days while clean up is underway. Tuesday evening they reported that the train company was bringing in assists to assist with the clean up efforts.

Officials say approximately fourteen cars of a train were derailed Tuesday afternoon in Wendell. No injuries were reported in the accident as the cars were carrying dry goods, according to Leverett Police.

Farley Road was closed as of 5 p.m. for clean up and travelers should avoid the area for the time being.
