HAWLEY, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Residents of a Hawley home were evacuated Sunday when high levels of carbon monoxide were detected in their home. Firefighters responded to the CO alarm activation and found that carbon monoxide was trapped in the home due to a blocked exterior heating vent.
Officials are reminding the public to ensure all exterior vents are clear, in addition to clearing fire hydrants, especially during these high wind events where snow can pile up in unusual places.
