TURNERS FALLS, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The local high school spring sports season is underway, and one of the main storylines fans will be following is the race for the state softball championship.
The Turners Falls Thunder captured the Division 5 Championship last spring, the 11th softball title in school history. The championship followed back-to-back titles by the Greenfield High School Green Wave. The stage is set for another great race for the title once again this year.
Senior pitchers Madi Liimatainen of Turners Falls and Kenzie Paulin of Greenfield have provided several memorable moments in their high school careers so far, and are ready to battle each other again, starting Friday evening in Turners Falls. That game will air live on Bear Country 95.3 starting at 5:15.
The Franklin Tech Eagles and Frontier Red Hawks made nice tournament runs last spring, and are set to make another run in 2025.
