ASHFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Ashfield’s Annual Town Meeting will be held Saturday May 3rd in the Town Hall and a Special Town Meeting will be held just before at 9:30 a.m. to vote on three articles.
One of the three articles is to pay an accounting consultant who was hired to organize the town’s books after a “few years of inadequate accounting services,” as described by town officials. The consultant fee is “significantly” larger than anticipated, although they are comprising their fee as the firm now permanently works for the town.
Another article is to set to rescind last year’s vote on a debt exclusion to pay for a new Highway Department dump truck, which can now be paid for in full by the town.
The final article is a housekeeping piece to transfer just over $278,000 from the Broadband retained earnings to their operating budget.
The regular Annual Town Meeting warrant will be signed this week and released to the public.
