UPDATE 1:45 p.m.: Greenfield Police Chief Todd Dodge spoke with Franklin County Now with details on the apprehension of the suspect in Friday’s incident on Elm Street in Greenfield.

“We called in the Franklin County Regional Special Response Team, and they systematically approached this,” said Dodge. “The main thing was to try to do this without causing injuries to anyone. We had interior drones deployed, which indicated a footprint on top of what appeared to be a bureau, just beneath a trap door to an attic crawl space.”

Dodge said police then deployed CS gas, a non-lethal irritant, to drive the suspect out of the house.

“(Officers) didn’t see even so much as a stir. So, lastly, they physically made entry into that attic crawl space and pulled (the suspect) out.”

The suspect was transported by ARS Ambulance to Baystate Medical Center in Greenfield for evaluation. Dodge indicated that the suspect is known by police as well as the victim. The suspect’s identity has not been released, nor have the charges that individual will face.
