SPRINGFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — On Tuesday, the Dakin Humane Society assisted local law enforcement with removing 96 cats and kittens from a severe hoarding situation in Hampden County, where the animals were found in overcrowded, unsanitary, malnourished neglectful conditions.
Dakin officials say this came just days after rescuing 24 cats from another hoarding situation in Franklin County, bringing their total intake of cats and kittens in October to 260.
Dakin says the sudden increase in intakes has “placed a significant strain” on their resources and they are now issuing a call for community support through adoption and donations.
