20-year old former student athlete dies in crash

The Northwestern District Attorney’s Office has confirmed that 20-year-old Darek Harvey of Charlemont died in a fatal car accident on Route 2 last Thursday.

CHARLEMONT, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Northwestern District Attorney’s Office has confirmed that 20-year-old Darek Harvey of Charlemont died in a fatal car accident on Route 2 last Thursday.

The vehicle struck a tree and caught fire shortly before 5 a.m. Thursday morning. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Harvey was a former student athlete at Brattleboro Union High School, passionate about hockey. Harvey’s family has set up a GoFundMe to cover funeral expenses.
