AMHERST, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection has fined a real estate company for violations during an asbestos abatement at the Grand Block Building on South Pleasant Street in Amherst. MassDEP says they failed to use proper work practices including having untrained and unlicensed workers performing the asbestos removal, resulting in a $22,000 penalty.
