GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — At last night’s Emergency City Council meeting in Greenfield, the Council voted unanimously to approve the $250,000 purchase of a new back up generator for the city’s public safety dispatch.

The meeting was held in an emergency manner as the city is required to have a back up, and once the former generator failed they had to replace it with a $14,000 per month rental.

Councilors inquired whether future capital project plans would be adjusted to account for this new, unexpected borrowing. Mayor Desorgher said capital projects will stay on course to prevent increased costs when projects are put off for the future.
