WHATELY, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — On Sunday afternoon a permitted burn in Whately quickly grew out of control due to afternoon winds. The permit holder quickly called 911 and Whately Fire responded along with crews from Hatfield and Haydenville.
One and a half acres burned before the fire could be contained.
