(Greenfield, MA) — A Vermont man is recovering at Baystate Medical Center after being shot during a high-speed car chase through Franklin County Friday. State Police Spokesman David Procopio said that agency was notified that Vermont Police were looking for a Ford F-150 pickup driven by 33-year-old Daniel Williams. The truck was reportedly the subject of a carjacking. Massachusetts troopers picked up the pursuit on Route 2 and were putting down stop sticks near the Buckland-Shelburne line to deflate the truck’s tires as Williams approached. When Williams allegedly drove at the trooper, the officer shot at Williams, who was hit but still managed to drive down the Mohawk Trail before finally being stopped near the I-91 rotary in Greenfield, where he was taken into custody. No word yet on his condition.
