GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Greenfield Water Department will be conducting its annual fire hydrant flushing program beginning on May 4, 2026 and continuing through May 15, 2026. This process helps to remove sediment and mineral buildup from water mains, improve overall water quality and clarity, ensure hydrants are functioning properly for emergency use, and maintain adequate water pressure for firefighting. Residents may experience temporary discoloration of water, reduced water pressur, and short periods of cloudy or rusty-looking water.
