GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association released its initial spring sports power rankings, with several local teams coming in at a high level.
The Frontier softball team is the highest-ranked local team, coming in at #4 in Division 4. The Redhawks are currently working on a perfect season at 13-0. Athol is at #62 in Division 4.
In Division 5 softball, the two-time defending state champion Turners Falls Thunder is in at #9, Greenfield at #12, Mohawk at #18, Pioneer at #19, Franklin Tech at #21, and Mahar at #34.
The Frontier baseball team is ranked 17th in Division 4. In Division 5, Greenfield is ranked 8th, Franklin Tech 14th, Turners Falls 18th, defending state champion Pioneer 19th, Athol 39th, and Mahar is ranked #51.
