GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Ticks are causing record high emergency room visits across the region. Approximately 50% of black-legged ticks carry the agent that causes Lyme disease and June brings peak nymph tick season.
These are smaller ticks, harder to detect, although they have a lower rate of infection.
Using tick repellent and checking for ticks can help reduce the rate of bites and infections.
