ORANGE, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Orange Selectboard has made its pick for the town’s first-ever Town Manager,

Stephanie Hirsch, a former Eau Claire, Wisconsin City Manager, was chosen among four final candidates during deliberations by the Selectboard on Sunday.

The vote was 4-1 in favor of Hirsch, with board chair Julie Davis the lone dissenting vote. The other finalists were current Orange Town Administrator Matthew Fortier, former Greenfield Mayor Roxann Wedegartner, and former Hubbardston Town Administrator Nathan Boudreau.

The town will now enter into contract negotiations with Hirsch.

Orange Special Town Meeting voters back in January voted overwhelmingly to approve the new Town Manager form of government, and Governor Maura Healey this summer signed into a law a bill officially establishing the new governmental structure.
