BOSTON, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey has announced her intention to file legislation that would temporarily suspend the state’s gasoline tax for two months.
This comes as prices continue to surge at a time of year when they usually come down. According to AAA Northeast, the average price of regular unleaded gas is now at $4.41 per gallon here in the Bay State.
Meanwhile, with heating season approaching, Massachusetts residents could see some help with their energy bills. Healey says her administration is exploring relief options, particularly for households that heat with oil or propane.
Lawmakers are still negotiating a broader energy affordability bill, with hopes of reaching an agreement before November.
