VERNON, VT (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Final work in the decommissioning of the Vermont Yankee Nuclear site is nearly complete. NorthStar had inherited a $602 million trust fund for the decommissioning and will be completing the work in 2027, three years ahead of the promised deadline in 2030. The site will then need to be reviewed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission before it can be made available for reuse.
