(Leverett, MA) Leverett Chief John Ingram gave an update this afternoon on the Joshua Hill Fire in Leverett. The fire has grown up to 55 acres, and over 90 firefighters are working on the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Chief Fire Warden David Celino said the dry conditions contributed to the spread and volume of the fire. The Joshua Hill Fire is inaccessible by vehicle and dangerous for firefighters. As the dry conditions worsen across the state, there is a concern of more fires. Celino said the public should remain hyper vigilant with camp fires to prevent brush fires from erupting.
