(Whately, MA)  — A series of late afternoon thunderstorms tore through southern Franklin County Monday, knocking down tree limbs and flattening at least one barn in the town of Whately. There was no evidence of a tornado, but some witnesses did report high winds consistent with a microburst. Wind debris was also seen strewn along Route 116 near the Whately-Deerfield town line. Some spotty power outages were reported in the area, according to Eversource.
