(Boston, MA) In addition to the investigation into the Holyoke Soldiers’ Home that revealed critical errors that lead to deaths of vulnerable patients in the facility, political leaders like Ed Markey are calling for an investigation into the Chelsea Soldiers’ Home where 31 residents have died. The Chelsea Soldiers’ Home was established in 1882 to provide healthcare services to Veterans. The current data for the Soldiers’ Home In Chelsea can be seen here. There are currently 36 staff cases of COVID-19 and 7 patients who have COVID-19. At the Holyoke Soldiers’ Home there are currently zero staff cases and zero patient cases. The data does not show the total number of deaths in the home, but the number of deaths in the last seven days for bot homes is zero.
Markey is up for re election and is challenged by Joe Kennedy. While Joe Kennedy has remained largely silent on the issue of the Chelsea Soldiers’ Home he did introduce a bill called the Stabilize Medicaid & Chip Coverage Act, which addressed health care coverage in the United States.
