(Boston, MA) Governor Charlie Baker announced that Step One of Phase Three will start on Monday, July 6. Movie theatres, gyms, and museums will be able to open, but this phase will last longer than the previous phases to allow more time to track the progress and the spread of COVID-19. Guidance on gatherings has also been updated to allow indoor gatherings up to 25 people. Outdoor gatherings are permitted to a 25% of a facility’s capacity. In the city of Boston, the updated on gatherings will be put into effect July 13, while in the rest of the state the guidance will take effect July 6.

“The last thing we want to do is move backwards,” said Baker.

During the July 4 celebration, Baker encourages residents to celebrate and enjoy the holiday while continuing to observe social distancing guidelines.

“I just would ask that you continue to be smart,” said Baker.
