(Greenfield, MA) – A former Franklin County Transit Authority bus driver accused of trying to hit three passengers is being held without bail at the Franklin County House of Correction. Steven Connell of Gill is accused of driving the bus onto a Greenfield sidewalk in an attempt to run over a father and his two children who had exited the bus. Connell reportedly got off the bus and attacked the man, who is African American. Connell said he believed one of the three had a gun. Connell has since been fired from the FRTA and is facing charges of assault with intent to murder, civil rights violations, several counts of assault, among others.
