(Hatfield, MA) The town of Hatfield is issuing a stern warning to residents this morning about observing COVID-19 guidelines on playgrounds and basketball courts. Apparently residents using these facilities have not been following the guidelines, causing a warning from the town to be posted on Facebook on both the town and police department pages.
“If everyone continues to not follow the guidelines that are put in place, the playgrounds will be closed and the hoops at the basketball courts will be taken down until further notice,” said Kerry Flaherty, COVID Coordinator, in the statement.
The CDC guidelines for these spaces include observing social distancing, wearing masks when social distancing is not possible, washing and sanitizing hands after using public spaces, and maintaining a maximum of 25 players on the basketball courts at any one time.
“We have a responsibility to be keeping everyone as safe as possible during this pandemic,” said Flaherty.
The Town of Hatfield is asking anyone with a question or concern to reach out to Flaherty as the COVID Coordinator via email or phone at kflaherty@townofhatfield.org or (413) 247-9200.
