(Springfield, MA) Baystate Medical Center in Springfield reported 36 new COVID-19 cases spread among patients and staff members. Reports indicate that employees who visited a COVID-19 hotspot failed to quarantine for the 14 day period and returned to work. Reports also indicate that the virus may have spread though breakrooms by employees who were not wearing a mask. Patients who visited Baystate Springfield Hospital Wing between July 13-July 23 2020 will be contacted for COVID-19 testing and contact tracing. A representative from Baystate Health said that no other locations are affected at this time by the outbreak and all patients who might have been exposed to COVID-19 will be contacted.
