(Orange, MA) — Mahar Regional School officials are making preparations to adjust budgets in the wake of this week’s seven-vote defeat of a Proposition 2 ½ override. The vote would have fully funded Orange’s Mahar assessment, and would have brought the district closer to the two-thirds needed to approve the budget. The loss will likely cost the district jobs as well as funding for a number of extracurricular activities at the school.
