The Montague Selectboard is concerned about an area on Millers Falls Road that is close to the Connecticut River. An 80 foot cliff has formed after the bank of the river collapsed earlier this year. According to the Montague Public Works Superintendent, the reason why the bank collapsed is not yet known, but this is the third time in the last ten years that a bank of the Connecticut River has come down in Montague. The selectboard considers stabilizing the bank to be an urgent priority and they are now talking to an engineering firm about fixing the problem. The cost is not yet known.
