(Boston, MA) On Friday, August 28 Governor Charlie Baker signed an order activating 1,000 members of the National Guard in Massachusetts “in the event that municipal leaders require their assistance.” According to the press release sent on Friday, the national guard is only deployed only at the request of communities seeking the support. Why the National Guard has been activated is unclear. A request for comment from the Governor’s Office is still pending.
