(Northampton, MA) The Northampton Police Department is warning residents of a phone scam targeting their department. Reports are that members of the community have received phone calls from a male party claiming to be part of Northampton Police Department using the name of a former employee. The number that appears is (413) 587-1100 which is Northampton Public Safety or the dispatch center. The caller reportedly tells people there is a summons for them.
According to the Northampton Police Department this person is not a member of that department and is warning against giving out personal information to the caller. Anyone who receives this phone call can contact the dispatch number and confirm employment with the Northampton Police Department.
