(BOSTON) — Massachusetts has apparently fared well when it comes to its colleges and universities dealing with the ongoing pandemic. The state’s Secretary of Education James Peyser said the numbers back that up.

“According to the New York Times database, Massachusetts has one of the lowest number of Covid cases on its college campuses relative to our total number of college students”, said Peyser.

“In May, the Lieutenant Governor convened a higher education working group made up a public and private institutions which helped develop the framework for bringing students and staff safely back to campuses.”

Many colleges are working with the state’s tracing collaborative when positive cases are detected. This is what is currently happening at UMass-Amherst, where a Covid cluster was discovered in August.
