(Combined Sources) Policing will soon be changing in the town of Wendell. The town is entering into an agreement with neighboring Leverett to handle policing duties for the small Franklin County town. Leverett Police Department put out a social media post about the agreement, stating in part that this will be a “learning process” for both Leverett and Wendell. The agreement will start with a 90 day trial period that begins today. Leverett will be responding to any emergency calls about of Wendell. Talks between the two towns about sharing a police department have been in the works for about a year and started when Wendell’s Police Chief, Edward Chase, announced his retirement after working for the town for 43 years. Anyone with any questions or concerns can contact Leverett Police Chief Scott Minckler at policechief@leverett.ma.us
