(Bernardston, MA) An erratic vehicle struck two guardrails on 91N in Bernardston at approximately 4:30pm Saturday when the operator, allegedly impaired, swerved into the breakdown lane from the passing lane, striking the guardrail on the right hand side of the highway. The operator then swerved back across both travel lanes and the breakdown lane, hitting the guardrail on the left side of the highway. The operator, a 70 year old male from Danbury Connecticut, was transported to Baystate Franklin with injuries. A preliminary investigation revealed that the operator was allegedly impaired by drugs and alcohol. He was charged with Operating Under the Influence, Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol, Negligent Operation, and Marked Lanes Violations.
