(Greenfield, MA) The second weekend of Light Up the Fairgrounds is approaching. WHAI Promotions Manager Sharon Cross, who is managing the event for WHAI, Bear Country, and the Outlaw radio stations, said many families were thrilled with the holiday light display and said it brought some cheer and excitement to 2020. This year has been challenging for many, and Cross said one family in particular used the event to come together while one parent was quarantined and isolated from the rest of the family.

Cross said when the family came through, they stopped to tell their story about how Light Up the Fairgrounds was able to add a little more light to their holidays. Their mom had been in quarantine for nine days, and was unable to see the kids or her husband. Armed with technology, the family was able to go through the light display together in two separate cars and communicate the entire time as if they had been together in the same car. The mom was able to be a part of the excitement as her children viewed the light displays.

Light Up the Fairgrounds will take place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 5pm to 9pm. A minimum of $5 donation is required from each car entering the display, which will go to benefit three local non profits. Big Brothers Big Sisters, Franklin County Regional Dog Shelter, and the Franklin County Fair Grounds are the three charities benefitting from this year’s Light Up the Fairgrounds event.
