(Greenfield, MA)  — Greenfield residents who have thoughts on funding a new fire station will have a chance to express those views this Friday.

The Greenfield City Council has scheduled a special meeting for this Friday afternoon at 5pm to allow for public comment on a motion to appropriate an additional $6 million for fire station construction, which will be voted on at the council’s next regular meeting on December 16th.

“This meeting is all about hearing what people think about this issue,” City Council President Ashli Stempel-Rae said. “I know there are a lot of strong opinions, so it made sense to schedule a separate meeting to listen to our constituents on this.”

The council Friday is expected to waive its usual rules of procedure at Friday’s meeting, followed by the public comment session. No debate or votes are expected to be taken until the council’s regular December meeting next Wednesday.
