(Amherst, MA) — The region’s newest COVID hotspot is the University of Massachusetts’ Amherst campus. A recent surge in COVID cases has forced UMass officials to close the Amherst campus to all but essential operations for the next 14 days. All in-person classes will move to remote format, and students should refrain from leaving campus and should stay inside whenever possible. All athletic events have also been cancelled.
