(Boston, MA) — A former Western Mass. State Senator is running for the commonwealth’s top job.
Former Berkshire-Franklin-Hampshire-Hampden State Senator Ben Downing has announced plans to seek the Democratic gubernatorial nomination in the 2022 state election. Downing served as a senator for 10 years before leaving the Legislature for the private sector. He currently lives in East Boston and works for a solar company.
Downing tells the “Berkshire Eagle” he’s running to address “economic inequality, climate change and wide-ranging racial disparities” in our society. He is the first Democrat to announce for governor.
