(Turners Falls, MA) Earlier this year, an 11 year old acted quickly when he realized smoke was filling his home while he was there alone. 11 year old Jayden  remembered what he was taught in the Student Awareness of Fire Education program at school and called 911, allowing firefighters to quickly extinguish the fire. He was recognized as a “Young Hero” Monday by the Turners Falls Fire Department and the Deputy State Fire Marshal Fournier along with his family.

(04/17/23) An 11 year-old boy from Turners Falls saved their family’s house by calling 911 when smoke filled the home from a pan in the kitchen. Sunday afternoon, the smoke alarms were going off and the 11 year-old knew to call 911. He remained calm and gave all of the necessary information to the dispatchers, including that their cat was stuck inside and they couldn’t go back inside to retrieve it.

Turners Falls Fire responded to the scene and used high powered fans to ventilate the home. Montague police assisted in getting the smoking pan out of the kitchen. The only damage left behind was the smell of burnt food.
