(Greenfield, MA) Greenfield Deputy Chief William Gordon along with local celebrity good dog Officer Clarence are returning home today from the Capitol. Earlier in the week, Gordon posted on his Facebook page that Clarence was trending in the top 13 on Twitter. Officer Clarence even had his own trading cards made by Custom Trading Cards, a custom card company that specializes in promotional, marketing, and retail products. Officer Clarence also had his own meet and greet with members of Congress and White House media. National media, including ABC news, continued to report on his presence in the Capitol through April 15. Officer Clarence was also featured on the twitter account The Oval Pawffice.
Officer Clarence was on hand during the ceremony in D.C. and after, as Evans was laid in honor in the Rotunda. Evans was transported back to North Adams on April 14 and given his final rest on April 15. Many people stood out in the cold Thursday morning to wave flags and pay tribute to officer Evans as his funeral procession brought him to his final rest.
“It does not go unnoticed and we want you all to know that the support and commitment will be returned from each and every one of our officers. It is truly our honor to serve and protect the Town of Adams,” said the Adams Police Department on their Facebook page.
“Officer Evans was a son of the hill towns, having grown up in neighboring North Adams, and he was remembered as a dedicated police officer and devoted family man,” said the Massachusetts State Police on their Facebook page.
