(Turners Falls, MA) The Connecticut River Conservancy, or CRC, is seeking answers from FirstLight regarding alarmingly low water levels around Barton Cove. In a public statement, FirstLight said their river license allows them to go as low as 176 feet, and the river elevation between June 13 and June 14 at Barton Cove was 177.5 feet, just above what their license allows. The CRC will be requesting the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission revise the FirstLight limits on the operating license to allow for usable levels for all users year round. A comment from FirstLight regarding this issue is pending.
