(Buckland, MA) The weather is causing some problems in both Hampshire and Franklin Counties this morning. For a brief period this morning Roosevelt Street in Hadley was closed due to downed wires and trees. The area that was impacted is now open. A tree that fell on powerlines in Buckland last night closed Charlemont Road and Avery Road and also the area of 54 Charlemont Road. The closure lasted for a few hours while the situation was repaired. In Miller’s Falls, a maple tree knocked out power on East Mineral Road. According to resident Jon Waidlich, another tree came down at the beginning of the road preventing the power company from fixing the power until that tree was removed.

In South Deerfield, a water main break is impacting the water supply of area residents. The South Deerfield Water Supply District is aware of the problem and is working to fix it.
Meanwhile, tropical storm Elsa is tracking Northeast. The rain is predicted to end by 3pm this afternoon and weather experts predict the bulk of the flooding rain will hit east of Western Massachusetts. Despite this, much of the area is under a flood warning. Flood warnings for Franklin and Hampshire counties could be hoisted later today.
