(Erving, MA) A fire that started on a back porch at 28 River Road in Erving has left four displaced. Erving Fire Chief Phillip Wonkka said it was a good save for his department. While the building was deemed to be uninhabitable, there were no injuries at the scene of the fire. Greenfield, Northfield, Orange, Bernardston, Turners Falls, Gill, and Montague Fire Departments assisted while New Salem and Deerfield covered the stations. Wonkka said the call came in at 1:55pm and was brought under control at 3:15pm. The Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
