GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Accountability data shared at Wednesday’s Greenfield School Committee meeting by assistant Superintendent Stephen Sullivan shows that while two schools in the district made improvements so as to no longer require assistance or intervention, the district still has plenty of room to grow.

Chronic absenteeism grew from 2023 to 2024 for multiple categories of students including hispanic/latinx, English Language Learners, low performing students, and students with disabilities. The four year graduation rate also declined over the past year, meaning students were taking longer to graduate than the traditional four years.

Advanced coursework did show improvement, however it was below the target. Math achievement and growth categories did show improvement, and English Language Learners and Hispanic/Latinx students met or exceeded 68% of the targets for those groups.

District officials will be meeting with the Statewide System of Support this week to further discuss accountability.
