(Amherst, MA) Amherst is making plans to switch to ranked-choice voting. On Monday, a report was presented to the town council on how to implement rank-choice voting for town elections. The switch to the alternative form of voting was included in the town’s charter two years ago. With ranked-choice voting, the voter chooses candidates in order of preference instead of selecting just one person. Amherst still needs approval from the state legislature to move forward with the plan.
