Area Hospitals Named As Top Maternity Hospitals By Newsweek

(Western MA) Two area hospitals have been recognized as two of the best maternity care hospitals in the nation for 2020 by Newsweek. Cooley Dickenson Hospital in Northampton and Heywood Hospital in Gardner were chosen among the top 231 maternity care hospitals by a panel of national experts that looked at ow rates of C-section, episiotomy and early elective deliveries, and protocols to protect mothers and babies. Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit, partnered with Newsweek and provided information on safety and quality performance of U.S. health care facilities.
