ASHFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — This year, the Ashfield Energy Committee is working on getting Ashfield designated as a Climate Leader Community through the Department of Energy  Resources (DOER) Green Communities program. The designation would set the town up o meet the 2050 state climate goals and become eligible for $500,000 annually in grant funding that could be used for municipal energy efficiency projects, municipal renewable energy projects, among other things.

In order to do so, the town will need to pass the Municipal Decarbonization Commitment, the Zero Emission Vehicle First Policy, and the Adoption of Specialized Energy Code articles in the Annual Town Meeting on May 4th.

Learn more about these articles at the upcoming public forum on Wednesday, April 17th at 6:30 pm in the Lower Town Hall and on Zoom.
