(Ashfield, MA) The Ashfield Selectboard has decided against introducing new noise bylaws after the recent public forum on gun noise. The November 14th forum came after residents had complained of gun noise that did not violate the current noise ordinance. An Ashfield resident presented a bylaw proposal at the forum that would prohibit people from making “any unreasonably loud and disturbing noise in Ashfield.” The Selectboard opted against this or any other new bylaw as they may make the town vulnerable to lawsuits as guns are constitutionally protected.
