(Athol, MA) The Athol Police Department is kicking off a fundraiser for Autism Awareness starting today. To raise money, the department has designed special Athol Police Autism Awareness Patches that will be for sale for $10. The patches are for sale at the Athol Police Department dispatch window. The money raised will be donated, in part, to an Autism Awareness charity that the department will vote on at a future date. Some of the money will go to local organizations and some will go to the Town of Athol.

Anyone who would like to purchase a patch but cannot travel to the Athol Police Department may send a self addressed envelope with payment to the department. Envelopes should be addressed to Union N.E.P.B.A. Local 59, Attention Douglas Kaczmarczyk. The full address of the police department can be located here.

World Autism Awareness Day is internationally recognized on April 2 each year while the entire month of April is tradionally considered Autism Awareness Month.
