(Boston) On Wednesday, Governor Charlie Baker came close to tears at the end of his morning press briefing regarding his own experience with COVID-19. During the emotional moment, Baker appeared close to tears as he explained that his own best friend had lost his mom to COVID-19.
“What I think about most are the stories and the people behind the stories,” said Baker during the conference. “My best friend lost his mom to Covid,” the Governor went on.
Baker explained that his friend and his mom had a great relationship where nothing went unsaid, but the process of going through the loss of a close family member without a funeral, a chance to say goodbye, made the loss even more painful.
“When you talk about the numbers on this, what I’m really thinking about are all those people that are not going to have a chance to say goodbye,” said an emotional Baker.
Baker ended the conference by reiterating the significance and importance of not leaving anything unsaid with loved ones during this time, mentioning his own phone calls with his dad where he is more open during this time than he normally is known to be.
