The Baker-Polito Administration announced today that individuals age 65 and older and those with two or more qualifying medical conditions can start booking appointments for the COVID-19 vaccine. Additionally, Asthma has been added to the list of qualifying medical conditions for this round of vaccination. Visit www.mass.gov/covidvaccine to start booking an appointment for vaccine beginning tomorrow, February 18th.

Due to supply issues, the administration is warning that it may take more than a month for these eligible individuals to secure an appointment. With this new phase of vaccination,  individuals 65 and over, including residents and staff of low income and affordable public and private senior housing are eligible. Additionally, residents and staff of low income public housing and private senior housing can receive the vaccine. Anyone age 16 and over with two or more qualifying medical conditions are also eligible for the vaccine.

To book an appointment, go to  the COVID-19 Vaccine Finder, the state’s vaccination website at www.mass.gov/COVIDvaccine or directly at https://vaxfinder.mass.gov. Residents can also call 211 and follow the prompts.

 

Phase 2 eligible conditions:

  • Asthma (moderate-to-severe)
  • Cancer
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
  • Down Syndrome
  • Heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, or cardiomyopathies
  • Immunocompromised state (weakened immune system) from solid organ transplant
  • Obesity and severe obesity (body mass index [BMI] of 30 kg/m2 or higher)
  • Pregnancy
  • Sickle cell disease
  • Smoking
  • Type 2 diabetes mellitus
